11th Meeting of the Mediterranean Group for the Study of Diabetes
The 11th Meeting of our Association, founded in 1985, will take place in Malta from 23 to 26 april 2009

« Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that on behalf of the
Mediterranean Group for the Study of Diabetes
I invite you to attend the 11th Biennial MGSD
Congress to be held in Malta from April 23
to April 26, 2009.
The MGSD was founded in 1985 with the aim
of fostering collaboration and research in
diabetes as well as providing means of
networking among health care professionals
working in different areas of the Mediterranean.
The ultimate aim is that of ensuring equitable
and optimal standards of diabetes care.
The organizing and scientific committees have
worked tirelessly to prepare a stimulating
academic and social programme, which we
sincerely hope will prove of benefit to the
scientific and medical communities of the
Mediterranean region. A number of interesting
plenary sessions are scheduled with the
participation of an international faculty.
In addition, this MGSD congress will provide
an excellent forum for the discussion of
original papers relating specifically to issues in
diabetes by means of either oral or poster
presentations.
The increasing emphasis on diabetes care in
the community by primary health care
physicians in liaison with diabetologists is
reflected in our wish to extend this invitation
to the former to join diabetologists from
around the Mediterranean to discuss and
ascertain a holistic and comprehensive
approach to patient care. Your presence at the
Congress signifies your commitment to
optimizing diabetes care in the Mediterranean.
Malta is therefore particularly privileged to
welcome congress participants at what promises
to be an exciting and excellent opportunity
for continuing professional development in
a setting that epitomizes a unique interface
between ancient and modern Mediterranean
culture and learning.
