Professor Ibrahim has been Professor of Internal Medicine at Cairo University, Egypt, since 2000 and Head of the Internal Medicine Departments and of the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at Kasr El Aini Hospitals, Faculty Of Medicine, Cairo University since 2011.
He graduated in 1982 from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University where he received his MSc in Internal Medicine in 1986, MD in Internal Medicine in 1990, and worked as a resident, lecturer, and assistant professor at Kasr El Aini Hospitals, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. He trained in the use of insulin pumps and glucose sensors at Ulm University, Germany, in 1989.
Professor Ibrahim worked as Deputy Director, New Kasr El Aini Teaching Hospital (1200 beds) from 2000 till 2004 and then as a General Director from 2004 till 2006. He was Dean of the National Institute for Diabetes and Endocrinology Ministry of Health from May 2007 till July 2011.
Professor Ibrahim was the editor of the two publications of Egyptian Clinical Practice Recommendation (MOH) in 2009 and 2015, and was a member of the Medical Editorial Board of The Lancet Middle East. He is also a member of the Egyptian National Diabetes Committee and the Technical Committee for Diabetes and Endocrinology MOH.
Professor Ibrahim is a member of several diabetes associations, such as the American Diabetes Association and the Mediterranean Group for the Study of Diabetes, and is treasurer of the Egyptian Society for Diabetes and Lipidology.
He has several publications in internal medicine and diabetes, and has been the principal investigator for several national and international studies in the field of diabetes and endocrinology.
